This course covers the transition of an IT administrator, who pretty much hid in his Apple comfort zone for years, from macOS to Linux, specifically, from macOS 10.12 to Ubuntu 16.04 Server. This course will cover the Server for a few reasons. First, the Desktop version is intuitive enough that almost everything can really be figured out simply by using the "click it, did it work?" method. Second, there are many versions of Linux GUI's, even for Ubuntu, but configuring Linux via the command line is more uniform. The intended audience is experienced Mac administrators who have little to no Linux experience and would like a quick reference. As such, everything is named and organized the way it is on the Mac. this course focuses on how to perform tasks that are easily done using Mac's GUI in the Linux command line. This course is not a Unix tutorial. Unix commands will be shown when a task requires using the command line, but they will not be explained. Many tasks will simply refer to better documentation. I'm listing the topics that I think need to be covered to make this a good switching guide, but I realize that I may never get to all of these topics. While you learn Linux you need to realize that you will probably have to start over at least once, if not many times.
NymphCast is a software solution which turns your choice of Linux-capable hardware into an audio and video source for a television or powered speakers. It enables the streaming of audio and video over the network from a wide range of client devices, as well as the streaming of internet media to a NymphCast server, controlled by a client device. In addition, the server supports powerful NymphCast apps written in AngelScript to extend the overall NymphCast functionality with e.g. 3rd party audio / video streaming protocol support on the server side, and cross-platform control panels served to the client application that integrate with the overall client experience.
NymphCast requires at least the server application to run on a target device, while the full functionality is provided in conjunction with a remote control device: Client-side core functionality is provided through the NymphCast library.
The NymphCast Player is provided as a demonstration of the NymphCast SDK (see details on the SDK later in the document), implementing basic NymphCast functionality. It is designed to run on any mainstream desktop OS, as well as Android-based smartphones and tablets.
The server targets SBCs, but like the client (and SDK) should work on any platform that supports a C++17 toolchain and is supported by the LibPoco dependency:
The server is assumed to have 100 MB heap space free for caching.
The repository currently contains the NymphCast server, NymphCast Player client sources. Some developer tools are also provided but are of no concern for the first-time user. / |- player (the NymphCast demonstration client) |- src/ | |- client (basic NymphCast client, for testing) | |- client_lib (NymphCast SDK files) | |- server (the NymphCast server and NymphCast app files) |- tools (shell scripts for creating releases, in progress)
AutoKey is a free, open-source scripting application for Linux.
AutoKey allows the user to define hotkeys and trigger phrases which expand to predefined text, automating frequent or repetitive tasks such as correcting typographical errors or common spelling mistakes and inserting boiler plate sections of text.
Hotkeys, and trigger phrases may also be configured to run scripts which use the full power of Python 3 to perform actions which can generate window, keyboard, and mouse events using the provided AutoKey API.
Most applications will respond to these events as if the user were actually typing on the keyboard and using the mouse. This allows AutoKey scripts to cause these applications to perform almost any sequence of actions a user could manually make them do - at the press of a single hotkey.
Since AutoKey scripts are written in full Python, they can also interact with the whole system to perform tasks which would be difficult for a user to do manually such as reading and writing files, retrieving system status information, or performing calculations and making decisions.
It also provides simple dialog management tools so scripts can present information and interact with the user.
LinuxBoot is a free software project aimed at replacing most of the DXE modules in UEFI firmware with the Linux kernel. LinuxBoot must run on top of hardware initialization software in order to start. This can be the PEI part of UEFI, coreboot, or U-Boot. It can boot Linux through the kexec syscall, but is also able to boot Windows with a different method.

development packages & testbuilds for manjaro linux
Manjaro Linux is a Linux Distribution based on Arch Linux. It is still under development, but an initial testing release is already available. Our aim is to create a light linux distribution, which is simple, up-to-date, fast and user friendly and which follows the K.I.S.S principle. We are using the Desktop Environment Xfce, which is light but powerfull. Arch Linux is a great GNU/Linux distribution, but installing and configuring it, needs some time and experience. So we improved Arch Linux. We created a more user friendly installation process, wrote bash scripts for managing graphic drivers, configured xfce with some useful functions and a GUI settings manager is also planed. Just try it. ;)

Fan Made RebeccaBlackOS. With Wayland.
I got the idea to name a Linux distribution after my favorite celebrity after I saw some earlier Linux distributions named after celebrities, and also this KDE blog post. And then I thought, she deserves the free promo too. This is amongst the first live distributions to provide a Wayland server. There is a 32 bit and 64 bit ISO (It does NOT have her copyrighted music, or photos on the ISO. You have to buy her music legally on iTunes (or Amazon, etc))) The build scripts in the SVN is available for you to modify and build your own version of this project. This distribution is 3RD PARTY fan made. Yes. I am a fan of Rebecca Black. The latest ISO now has a login manager for Wayland, and now it has removed X from the startup path of the system.
In the field of Linux Scripting learning from a live instructor-led and hand-on training courses would make a big difference as compared with watching a video learning materials. Participants must maintain focus and interact with the trainer for questions and concerns. In Qwikcourse, trainers and participants uses DaDesktop , a cloud desktop environment designed for instructors and students who wish to carry out interactive, hands-on training from distant physical locations.
For now, there are tremendous work opportunities for various IT fields. Most of the courses in Linux Scripting is a great source of IT learning with hands-on training and experience which could be a great contribution to your portfolio.
