XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) is a language for transforming XML documents into other XML documents (of the same XML schema or not), or other objects such as HTML for web pages, or plain text for other uses, or many other txt-based formats (ex. RTF or any SGML document). When transforming "XML to XML" a chain of more transforms are possible, when transforming "XML to object", the chaining must stop (objects are terminal). There are two main XSLT standard groups: The present wikibook is about XSLT-v1, that have the wider community of users. The XSLT-v1 parsers, like libXml2, are fast and stable. The main XSLT-v1 use, in a MVC context, is as MVC-Viewer to filter or render, with minimal processing cost, the XML produced by the MVC-modeler. For a "Turing complete" processing, to avoid XSLT-v2 or XSLT-v3 migration, the usual workaround is to use processing from the embedding language, by the register-functions facility. Example: This course shows how to use register-functions when XSLT is used in a PHP environment. XPath-v1 and XSLT-v1 are essential standards, present in almost all XML applications, and many open platform browsers (Firefox, Chrome and others), portable systems (like ANDROID), desktop systems (like UBUNTU or Windows), databases (ex. PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.), and others.
A schema to describe ANSI/ISO SQL in XML and associated tools
SSQML: Standard Structured Query Markup Language This is an XML dialect that allows any valid SQL statement, clause, expression, predicate, or query to be expressed fully in XML based on an XML compliant schema. The schema is based on Backus Normal Form (BNF) representations of ANSI-ISO/IEC SQL Standards; ISO/IEC 9075 :2003, ISO/IEC 9075 :2006, ISO/IEC 9075 :2008, ISO/IEC 9075-14 :2013 XML-Related Specifications (SQL/XML) Does not include support for Embedded SQL Ada, C, COBOL, Fortran, MUMPS, Pascal, or PL/I programs. These may be added in future. This schema was generated by automation taking the SQL BNFs as input. It was then run through schema validators and manually modified further to result in a valid schema. The schema was designed such that if an instance document has its tags removed and the order of the content preserved, a valid SQL statement or fragment will be left. A JAXB library with javadocs that represent ssqml.xsd are checked into SVN
XML text markup for ancient documents
The EpiDoc Collaborative is developing specifications and tools for standards-based, digital publication and interchange of scholarly and educational editions of documentary and literary texts like inscriptions and papyri.
XML vocabulary for textual content and structure in scientific articles. The format can be used for any discipline in principle. The structural information expresses section structure, headings, footnotes etc. Paragraphs are the lowest level.
Simple, lightweight XML parser in C, statically or dynamically linked.
Simple XML parser written in C, with limited XPath and Unicode support and customizable tags. 'Simple' means that it does not implement all XML specifications, only the most widely used ones.
XML-Parse library is a lightweight set of functions for parsing, checking, and creating xml files. It can support stream-oriented, SAX or DOM parsing styles, and includes an optional xsd schema validator and graphical schema generator.
CookXml is a powerful dynamic XML data binding tool for Java. It is designed to be easily extensible and yet simple to use, with advanced exception handling. CookSwing and CookSwt are tag libraries for CookXml to do XML->GUI (XUL) for Swing and SWT.
An XML parser written in the REXX programming language. It runs on mainframes (z/OS Rexx) as well as Windows and Linux (Regina or ooRexx). Includes example Rexx programs that use the parser such as: JCL2XML (converts z/OS JCL into an XML format), AUX2SVG (converts a z/OS CICS auxiliary trace file into a visual SVG format), PRETTY (an XML pretty printer), DEVISIO (an example of removing unwanted tags from an SVG file).
Basic cross-platform tree view XML editor
XMLTreeEdit displays XML files as tree views and allows basic operations: adding, editting and deleting text nodes and their attributes. The main goal is providing a simple tool to create/edit XML configuration files for users without knowledge of XML. Built in Free Pascal Lazarus, which allows easy compilation for different target platforms. Currently binary executables were produced and tested on Windows (XP, 7) and Ubuntu Linux (GTK2). For developers: there are two units listed separately to support XML configuration files in your application: XMLfile.pas - Lazarus/Free Pascal uXMLConfig.pas - Delphi (2007..XE2)
This is an Eclipse xml editor with several edition capabilities. The main features concern the interaction with the classes and resources declared in xml (Open class/resource, Create class), similar to the interaction between classes in java editor.
XSieve is an XML transformation language based on combination of XSLT (an XML transformation language) and Scheme (a Lisp dialect). XSieve is a powerful tool for complex data transformation tasks.
eLML (eLesson Markup Language) is an XML framework for creating structured eLessons based on a pedagogical model. eLML consists of an XMLSchema and XSLT files to create XHTML, PDF, LaTeX, IMS CP and SCORM versions, standards supported by most LMS.
An XML/XSL based Apache file browser, fully configurable, including user management and directory permissions, allowing users to post content for automated browsing. Useful for file libraries, repositories, or galleries. Current version in PHP.
MUIBuilder is an GUI builder for MUI GUIs which was originally written by Eric Totel. Goal of this project is to make it portable for all AmigaOS-like operating systems, extend it to export data to XML, and create cross-platform code generator.
uni-xml is a project to replace all of the proprietary configuration files on your system with XML files. In order to do this, uni-xml provides XML Schemas and XSLT stylesheets to convert the XML to the proprietary configuration file as needed.
In the field of XML learning from a live instructor-led and hand-on training courses would make a big difference as compared with watching a video learning materials. Participants must maintain focus and interact with the trainer for questions and concerns. In Qwikcourse, trainers and participants uses DaDesktop , a cloud desktop environment designed for instructors and students who wish to carry out interactive, hands-on training from distant physical locations.
For now, there are tremendous work opportunities for various IT fields. Most of the courses in XML is a great source of IT learning with hands-on training and experience which could be a great contribution to your portfolio.
